How I bloomed

How I bloomed

Growing up, fashion and writing were always my two greatest loves. When I wasn’t writing about one of my favorite movies (Selena), I was playing dress up and either me or my Barbies were the models. I was what most would consider shy and fashion was my way of expressing myself. I truly believe your appearance is what begins a conversation with someone and is the first reflection of who you are as a person.

I’ve always loved to dress different from everyone. When everyone was wearing the latest designer trends, I would know them but not necessarily follow them myself. I would always wear something with color and clothes that were both fun and edgy. As I got older, I began to show skin when necessary. Over the years, I’ve gotten the compliment “you’re so confident” when I would wear shorts or a crop top. I soon realized this was because was wearing the crop top that showed my not-so-flat stomach. My thighs that have never had a gap between them were flaunting in shorts. It was something people weren’t used to seeing and something I wanted to see more of but was scared to put myself out there. But then I decided, if I don’t put myself out there and celebrate the fact that I’ve bloomed and am fearless in my style, how can I help other women do the same?

This blog is about my personal style, but it is also for plus size, curvy, big (or any other adjective you use to describe yourself) who are blossoming or need to blossom into who they are through their style. This is for women who don’t want to wear peplum tops and bodycon skirts every night. Who don’t feel the need to wear dresses that are too tight and show off their best “assets” all the time. The ones who are unique and won’t let their size stop them from trying the clothes that’s different from what people expect of them. So I hope you enjoy my style and I’m excited to help you find yours.
