Today is a glorious day, as it is my 25th Birthday! I can’t believe I’m officially in my mid-20s, but I can honestly say I’m optimistic about the future and the rest of my twenties. The year 25 is one that I already can tell is going to be one filled with amazing boss babe moves and more opportunities to make my dreams come true.

I’m not going to lie, coming to this realization was not easy AT ALL! I literally have thought about this day all year and at times was dreading it. We live in a society that deems 25-year-old women as old and expect us to have everything figured out by then.

What I’ve been told by many other women who turned 25 is that theory is a huge myth. No matter what age you are, what you want will happen exactly when it’s supposed to. If you’re not married, it’s fine. Don’t have any kids? That gives you more free time to find your true purpose! Still in college? Girl, no need to rush! My friends and I talk about going back to school all the time because of all the fun times. This year I told myself I won’t be so hard on myself or self-loathe, and I mean it. I’m going to celebrate my day eating good food, spending time at home and eventually with my family and friends.

If turning 25 is something that is completely scaring you like it did for me, instead of counting down the days, focus on the things you want to do that you haven’t done already. I was going to do a “25 things to do before you turn 25” post, but I think that would be too representative of my life and what I personally want to accomplish. I think instead we should do things that take us out of our comfort zones before and after turning 25. We have to stop putting so much pressure to settle at a young age like we get a part two on life. Whether you’re turning 25 or 45, never settle for what you want. If you do, you’ll only hurt yourself and you will never be able to fully bloom. Remember, we’re doing more of what makes us this year, not what our influencers or peers are.

So today, I don’t want anything specific from any of you. I just want you to live your best life, as I plan to do this year.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Love, Light, and Style,

Liz
